Under the theme “A Journey Through Cultures, Stories and Traditions of Our International Students”, the initiative will provide an opportunity for international students to present their cultural backgrounds and share the traditions of their home countries. The university will become a meeting place where different identities and experiences can come together, contributing to a more inclusive and international academic community.
The programme will include a variety of artistic and cultural activities, such as traditional dances, musical performances and other forms of cultural expression. Students will also be able to organise country-themed stands, displaying cultural objects, traditional customs and other elements representing their national heritage.
Students interested in taking part are invited to submit proposals for activities representing their countries. Each country must appoint one representative, who will be responsible for coordinating its participation and communicating with the event organisers.
How to participate: applications and deadlines
Applications must include the country of origin, the representative’s full name and student ID number, a description of the proposed cultural activity and details about the stand. Proposals must be submitted by 30 October 2026 via email to one of the event organisers at the following addresses: carmelo.marisca@unime.it, nicola.rappazzo@unime.it, raffaella.coppolino@unime.it and valeria.schiffilliti@unime.it. Only one email per country will be accepted.
Through this initiative, the Department of Economics confirms its commitment to internationalisation, inclusion and active student participation in university life. This approach is also reflected in its academic programmes, which include undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, specialised courses and a PhD programme in Economics, Management and Statistics.
International Students’ Day will therefore be more than a celebration: it will be an opportunity to discover different cultures, encourage mutual understanding and recognise diversity as an important resource for personal and collective growth. The initiative also aims to strengthen students’ sense of belonging to an academic community that goes beyond national and cultural boundaries.
